Tesla EV Charger & Bi-Directional Gateway FAQs
To set up Tesla PowerShare capabilities, your home needs a compatible vehicle like the Cybertruck, a Tesla Universal Wall Connector, and a PowerShare Gateway. These components work together to enable bidirectional charging—letting your EV send power back into your home.
Goose Electric is fully certified by Tesla and Qmerit to install this system. We’ll evaluate your home’s panel capacity, check for proper grounding, and ensure your wiring meets local Manteca code. We also verify your system supports the required amperage for full EV-to-home power transfer.
Yes, in most cases. The Cybertruck’s bidirectional charging system can supply up to 11.5kW of continuous power, which is enough to keep essential home systems running during an outage. This includes appliances like refrigerators, lights, HVAC systems, and more.
If you want full-home backup, we’ll review your usage patterns and panel load to make sure your system is set up for safe, balanced energy distribution. We can even isolate critical loads if a full-home setup isn’t feasible.
It can be, depending on your current setup. If you already have solar or Powerwalls installed, we’ll assess how the PowerShare Gateway integrates into that system. Some homeowners use Tesla PowerShare alongside solar to keep their homes powered even when the sun isn’t shining.
Goose Electric helps Manteca homeowners understand the technical requirements of combining energy sources, ensuring smooth, code-compliant installation that supports long-term reliability and smart energy use.
A standard Tesla Wall Connector charges your vehicle only—it’s a one-way system. Tesla’s PowerShare system adds a Gateway that allows two-way energy flow: charging your vehicle and using your vehicle to power your home.
Goose Electric installs both standard and PowerShare-capable setups and will walk you through what’s best for your needs. If you want emergency home backup or energy management flexibility, the PowerShare Gateway is a worthwhile upgrade.
Most installations are completed in one to two days, but timeline depends on your panel’s current condition, permit turnaround, and the distance between your charger location and the main panel.
We handle everything—from the load calculations to coordination with local inspectors—and we don’t subcontract. That means you’ll get consistent communication, transparent pricing, and a clean install done right by the owner himself.
